Since I took this class, I have learnt numerous websites that are useful for English teaching and learning. One of the websites that impress me a lot is breakingnewsenglish.com. Different from usual language learning websites, it boasts a plethora of features.

The website has really gone to great length to help both English learners and teachers to achieve their goals. Although it is labeled as learning news English, it has covered a lot beyond news itself. For example, when it has established the item of Nobel Prize, it first narrates the related news. Then, it becomes a syllabus for teaching English related to the topic of Nobel Prize rather than the news anymore. It devises sections such as Warm-ups, before reading/listening, while reading/listening, after reading/listening, etc. under each section, it provides a variety of exercises to help enlarge vocabulary and improve the learners’ listening skill. What’s more, it has really connected language goals with contents’ goals, which means English is not learned or taught in an isolated condition. This is really important because the website has put emphasis on the purpose of learning a language---- to communicate and use it in a real situation or context.

Although it has the same function as the website: lessonwriting.com in terms of lesson planning, it has very stylish exercises like gap filling and chart filling. Students would love to do these practices.
